Marks as you type
When you pause, DuoTyping checks the paragraph you’re writing and underlines what to fix. Warm lines are grammar and spelling, cool lines are tone.
Fix a mark
- Mac and Windows: click the count on DuoTyping’s badge, beside the text box. Then choose Accept or Skip.
- Chrome and Edge: click the count in the text box’s corner, then choose Replace or Skip.
- Web: in Write, click a mark and pick its fix, or use the Suggestions panel.
Text that was there before you started waits. Choose Check Now to check it: on the web, under the draft; elsewhere, in the badge’s menu or card.
Turn them off or pause them
- Mac and Windows: in the menu bar or tray, turn off Marks as you type, or choose Pause for 1 Hour. To stop them in one app, right-click the badge and choose Turn Off in… with the app’s name. Turn an app back on in Settings › Apps.
- Chrome and Edge: click DuoTyping in the browser’s toolbar, then choose Pause here for 1 hour or Turn off on this site. Its Marks as you type switch turns them off everywhere. Turn a site back on in All settings › Sites.
Languages
Marks check only the languages on your Check as you type list, up to 10. Set it in Settings › General on a Mac or Windows, All settings › Languages in Chrome or Edge, and Profiles › Languages on the web.
A paragraph in a language off your list isn’t marked. Check Now checks it anyway, in any language DuoTyping offers.
Spelling marks
With DuoTyping Engine, spelling marks come too, and never use a check. They’re in English only for now.
To stop one kind of mark everywhere, choose Report… on it, then Turn off with the rule’s name. Turn it back on under Rules turned off, in Settings › General or, in Chrome and Edge, All settings.
On the web, a spelling mark offers Add “…” to your dictionary. Spelling marks then skip that word. Your words are in Profiles › Your dictionary.
How many
With DuoTyping Engine, marks have a daily count of their own, 200 on Free, and never use a check. When it runs out, they pause until the next day. Checking a selection still works.
With your own key, each pause sends the paragraph to your AI service, whatever its language.
Where marks never run
Password fields, password managers, code editors, terminals and banking apps. On a Mac or Windows, browsers too: there, the extension marks instead. More in It doesn’t work in an app.
