Rewrite and tone
Rewrite gives you a few other ways to say what you selected. The tone follows your writing profile.
Rewrite a selection
- Select a sentence or more. A small bar appears: over your text on a Mac or Windows, in the text box’s corner in Chrome or Edge.
- Choose Rewrite. A few ways to say it appear.
- Choose Replace selection on the one you like. Esc closes it and changes nothing.
In Chrome or Edge, you can also right-click and choose DuoTyping › Rewrite selection. With DuoTyping Engine, a rewrite uses one of the day’s checks.
No bar in an app? Select the text and check it with the shortcut, with Whole selection in your profile.
Set your tone
Tone comes from your writing profile: its writing context, such as Business & finance, and your custom instructions, such as “Short and friendly.” They change the tone, never grammar or spelling.
Try another tone on the same text
After a check, choose the profile’s name at the top of the card, then another profile. DuoTyping checks the same text again with it. Your default profile stays the same.
