Write and drafts

Mac Windows Web

Write is DuoTyping’s own place to write. It marks as you type, and keeps each piece as a draft.

Open it

  • Mac: choose New Draft from DuoTyping in the menu bar.
  • Windows: choose New Draft in the tray.
  • Web: open app.duotyping.com and choose New Draft.

On a Mac or Windows, the check shortcut opens Write too when nothing is selected.

Check a draft

Marks show as you type. To check the whole draft at once, press ⌘↵ on a Mac or Ctrl+Enter on Windows. On a Mac, select part of it first to check only that part. On the web, choose Check Now.

An accept changes only the draft.

Where drafts are kept

Drafts save themselves as you type.

  • Mac: on this Mac. Signed in, with Drafts on in Settings › Account, they’re in your account too, and Write on the web shows them.
  • Windows: on this PC, encrypted.
  • Web: in your account, so they’re there in any browser you sign in to.

Markdown

On a Mac or Windows, each draft is Plain or Markdown. Pick Markdown for headings, lists and checklists. Keyboard shortcuts lists its keys.

Get a deleted draft back

On the web, open Recently Deleted at the foot of the drafts list, then choose Restore. Drafts stay there for 30 days, those deleted on a Mac while drafts sync too.

Changed in two places

If a draft changed in two places before either was saved, Write shows both, with what differs highlighted. Choose Use Saved Copy, Keep Mine or Keep Both.
