Writing profiles
A writing profile tells DuoTyping how you want to sound. Every check, rewrite and mark uses your default profile.
What’s in a profile
- Writing context: what you write, such as Business & finance. It sets the tone, never grammar.
- Custom instructions (Your instructions on the web): up to 200 characters about tone, such as “Short and friendly. No sign-off.”
- How you review changes (Mac and Windows): Whole selection or Sentence by sentence.
- Variations (Proposals per check in Chrome or Edge, Ways to say it on the web): how many ways to say it, from 1 to 10.
Make one
- Open Settings › Profile on a Mac or Windows, All settings › Writing profiles in Chrome or Edge, or Profiles on the web.
- Choose New… (+ New Profile in Chrome or Edge, New Profile on the web).
- Name it, pick a writing context, and add instructions if you like.
- Choose Make Default to use it for everything.
You can keep up to 10.
Use another one once
In a check’s card, choose the profile’s name, then another profile. Your default stays the same.
On your other devices
Signed in to the Mac app, your profiles sync with your account, and the web app shows them. Each device keeps its own default. On Windows and in Chrome or Edge, profiles stay on that computer or in that browser.
