Use your own AI key

On a Mac or Windows, DuoTyping can check with your own OpenAI or Anthropic key in place of DuoTyping Engine. Your checks go straight to that service, which bills you. DuoTyping never sees your key.

Add your key

1. Open DuoTyping’s Settings, then Models.
2. On OpenAI or Anthropic, choose Set Up…. No key yet? Get a key from … ↗ opens the service’s page.
3. Paste your key and choose Save.
4. On a Mac, choose Activate. On Windows, saving turns it on.

Checking with, at the top of Models, now names your model and “your key”. During setup, Use my own key instead does the same.

What changes

• Checks and marks as you type have no daily limit from DuoTyping.
• Marks as you type check every paragraph, whatever its language. Spelling marks don’t show.
• Translate and reports still need a free account, and Translate still counts.

Another AI service

Choose Add AI Service… for any service that works like OpenAI’s, over HTTPS.

Stop using it

Choose Deactivate to keep the key, or Disconnect to delete it. To check with DuoTyping Engine again, sign in and choose Activate on it.
